Postdoc position in Marseille: Modelling Animal Behavior to Understand the Neural Bases of Learning

postdoc marseille france

The Turing Center of Living System (Marseille, France)  is looking for enthusiastic candidates to apply for a 2 years postdoc position in Marseille to work at the interface between theory and behavioral experiments.

The main goal of the project is to examine whether different computational models can reproduce the robust/conserved learning dynamics and behavioral strategy observed in rats challenged in a laboratory-based learning task (Rueda-Orozco & Robbe, Nat Neurosci, 2015).  In a second step, assessment of model predictions and possible neural implementation will be tested in new behavioral experiments in which key task parameters and/or brain activity will be altered.

We hope that such back and forth interaction between behavioral/neuroscience experiments and theory will provide us with new understandings of the neural bases underlying learning.

Ideal candidates must have a strong background in machine learning-related methods.
